YummyPhone gives you a virtual number for text and calls with other people on YummyPhone. It does not ask for your carrier phone number. Shafi App Co does not sell personal information.

Text, photos, and files

You can send text, emoji, photos, and files to another YummyPhone number. YummyPhone does not send carrier SMS.

Camera and microphone

The camera is used for video calls and to scan a contact QR code. The microphone is used for phone calls and walkie-talkie. Walkie audio plays on the loud speaker.

Screen in a chat

Either person in a chat can share their screen with the other. An iPhone, iPad, or Mac can watch. On a Mac, the mouse and keyboard stay off until the person at that Mac allows the friend to control it. An iPhone or iPad can be watched from the other phone, iPad, or Mac. Apple does not let another person tap or type on an iPhone or iPad. The screen is not saved.

Contacts

A person can show their QR code. The other phone scans it and adds that person. You can also type a YummyPhone number.

Calls and walkie

Voice and video calls use the phone call screen, including when the app is in the background. Walkie-talkie plays on the speaker. The lock screen button can be turned off in Settings. A phone that has been force-quit rings when the YummyPhone call server sends the wake-up.

Directory

The YummyPhone directory lists every virtual number with the name on that number. The phone opens one letter at a time and one page of names, so the book is not loaded all at once. Search uses the start of a name or the start of a number. A business account is listed under its business name and marked as a business. The directory is there so people on YummyPhone can find a number. It does not show the IP address, the connection city, the computer id, or the PIN.

Your number

You choose a country and a city. YummyPhone assigns the local digits. Canada numbers look like 0-1-234-5678. United States numbers look like 1-1-222-2222. The number works inside YummyPhone. It is not a carrier line.

How text and calls move

YummyPhone calls and texts go over the internet while both people have the app open. shafiappco.com forwards the live call, text, or walkie between those phones. On the same Wi-Fi, phones can also reach each other directly. Messages stay on the phones in the conversation.

The publisher keeps the virtual number, the profile name, a hash of the 4-digit PIN for that number, the kind of device (iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android), the computer id of that device, the IP address and city of the connection, when that number was first seen and last seen, and how many calls that number placed and answered. The PIN is required to put that number on another phone. The computer id is used to return the same number when YummyPhone is installed again on that computer. A placed call is counted when the invite is sent. An answered call is counted when the other side accepts. Call audio and message contents are not stored. These counts are for operating YummyPhone. YummyPhone does not use a tracking SDK, an advertising identifier, or IDFA.

Linked devices

You can link another iPhone, iPad, or Mac running YummyPhone on the same Wi-Fi with a short code. The linked device shares your virtual number and your text threads.

The one ad

YummyPhone is free and shows one banner inside the app. A yearly Apple purchase or a family redeem code in Settings removes that banner and opens the full app. Year 1 is 1FAM786, year 2 is 2FAM786, year 3 is 3FAM786, and so on. YummyPhone does not use a third-party ad tracking SDK.

On the device

Your number, contacts, text threads, and call list stay on the device. The contact names and their YummyPhone numbers are also kept with your number on shafiappco.com, so installing YummyPhone again brings those contacts back. Message text stays on the phones. A random id tells linked devices apart. It is not used to track you across other apps or websites.

How to stop

You can erase the number in Settings, which removes the local chats and contacts, or delete the app. Camera and microphone can be turned off for YummyPhone in Settings. Calls need the microphone, and video calls need the camera.
