Private Radio is a company walkie-talkie for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. People in the same company talk and send chat to each other. This page says what the app actually does with that information. Shafi App Co does not sell personal information. Private Radio does not show ads and does not use third-party ad tracking.

Microphone

Private Radio uses the microphone for live talk. You can hold the button to talk (push-to-talk) or leave talk on (hands-free) until you turn it off. The microphone is also used for a short voice clip in company chat. A clip is a replay if someone missed the live talk. A clip is at most about 60 seconds. Voice clips are removed after about 30 minutes.

Camera and photos

The camera and photo library are used when someone chooses a picture or a file to send in company chat. If you tap Save on a chat photo, Private Radio saves that photo to the photo library on your device. The app does not look through your photo library on its own.

Names and the company code

You type a name for yourself so other people on the radio can see who is talking. An admin can set the company name and the names of channels. The company has a join code so another radio can join that company. Private Radio does not ask you to make a Shafi App Co account, and it does not ask for your email address.

How talk and chat move

Audio and chat move between radios in the same company on the local network. The app uses the local network so a join code can find that company’s radio. A missed voice clip can also pass through shafiappco.com so another radio in the same company can replay it. That copy includes the voice, the name the person typed, the channel, and the company join code. It is there only so the other radio can play it. It is removed after about 30 minutes. If you delete your own voice clip, that copy is removed as well. Voice clips are not sold and are not used for ads.

On the device, chat messages — text, pictures, files, and voice clips — also leave the channel after about 30 minutes.

Company subscription

The company subscription is the company plan, purchased with StoreKit. Payment is handled by Apple. Shafi App Co does not receive your card number. The app can run for a short trial on the device before the company pays.

Where radio data stays

Local radio data stays on the device, in Application Support. That includes the company radio, the names, the join code, and the chat stored there. The only sharing beyond that device is the company share above: other radios in the same company on the local network, and the short voice-clip replay on shafiappco.com. A random id on the device lets those radios tell each other apart on the local network. It is not used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use third-party ad tracking.

How to stop

Leave the radio, delete your own voice clips, or delete the app. Deleting a voice clip removes your replay, including the copy that other radios use. Deleting the app removes the Private Radio data stored on that device. An admin can also remove a person from the company radio. Microphone, camera, and photos can be turned off for Private Radio in iOS or macOS Settings.
